Sun Dog Cat Moon Veterinary Clinic Welcomes Dr. Wilson
Sun Dog Cat Moon Veterinary Clinic is thrilled to welcome Dr. Kim Wilson to our team!
When Sun Dog Cat Moon Veterinary Clinic had the opportunity to expand our team, we looked for a veterinarian with substantial expertise in both western medicine and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, someone with a centered, optimistic attitude that fits our practice culture, and someone we knew our clients would love. We were fortunate to find all that and more in Dr. Kim Wilson.
Dr. Wilson began her career as an ecologist, earning her PhD in ecology from the University of Pennsylvania. She was a professor at Connecticut State University for more than a decade until one day – her dog became ill. She took him to a veterinarian who showed immense compassion not just for her pet, but for her as well.
“And I thought, ‘you know, I’d like to be a vet,’” she said. So, she left her teaching career to attend Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with her DVM in 2005.
Dr. Wilson also studied acupuncture and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine at the Chi Institute. After working at a couple of traditional companion animal hospitals, she began working at a veterinary practice in Florida that practiced only traditional Chinese of medicine. However, as a doctor who focused on acute and chronic pain management, she found herself missing “the good parts” of traditional Western medicine, she said.
So, she began searching for a practice that would allow her to practice the best of all veterinary diagnostics and available treatments, and found an ad for Sun Dog Cat Moon Veterinary Clinic.
“I just thought, ‘well if that isn’t the job for me!’” Dr. Wilson said. Within one meeting, she knew she’d found the perfect match, a practice that integrates all proven therapies, the best in modern veterinary medicine as well as traditional Chinese medicine.
Whether you have a new puppy in need of vaccines or an elderly cat with a chronic illness in need of best management, an athlete in need of laser therapy or a nutritional consultation, Dr. Wilson is your vet. Please call us at 843-437-0063 to schedule an appointment.
